As part of our ongoing sermon series on Revelation, we have been asking the question: what would Jesus say to us as a church if he were writing a letter along the lines of Revelation 2 and 3?

One congregation member has responded with the following:

To the Angel of the Baptist Church at Faversham. These are the words of him who is ever present.

I know your generosity in supporting other churches financially. I rejoice in the joy of the children as they grow in the church and the enthusiasm and idealism of the young people.

I know of the sound scriptural teaching and the study and reading of my word; also of your encouragement of unity with other denominations of my church.

However, there is a weakness in the church prayer life, also a lack of evangelisation of your local community.

Listen for my voice, do as I bid and I will bless your work. If you do not, I will remove my presence from your midst.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will never leave.

What do you think? How do you respond?
