Anyone visiting FBC over the last few months can’t fail to have seen the wonderful new banner celebrating our special anniversary. The banner was devised and created by one of our members. Gill tells us about her inspiration:

“During the brain storming session regarding what we were going to do for our 150 year celebrations I heard myself say I would make a banner. Then I panicked a bit and wondered . . . Why had I offered, and, What was I going to do now!

But then I got to praying about it and the next time I went to church I looked up at the windows and ‘saw’ in my mind’s eye a window, but with colours. So I based the background of the banner on the windows, and chose to use rainbow colours to illustrate the faithfulness of God. Then I was back to prayer for the wording.

The names for God the Father, and Jesus the Son may seem obvious but I felt that angling some words down hints that the Father wanted to reach out to His creation through Jesus, and now we understand His faithfulness and love better.

The banner is full of flaws, things that could have been done better, if only I had the skills, and limitless time. But that too mirrors our life’s journey and that of Faversham Baptist Church. We are not perfect people, but we want to praise and honour our Father in heaven, whose love for us has transformed us, given us a reason for living, and for meeting here, together, to worship.”
