A Renewed People with Renewed Vision

It is all too easy for us to become settled in the routine of our lives, but when this happens in our spiritual lives the results can be deadly. In the Bible Paul says we should be filled with the Holy Spirit, and go on being filled with the Holy Spirit. Our lives should be continually open to the renewal of the Holy Spirit within us, yet we often settle for simply coasting along in our Christian lives. I believe that God wants us to be a renewed people, responding to his love with heartfelt and inspiring worship, devoted in prayer both individually and corporately, serving him faithfully and sacrificially in every area of our lives, and thoroughly committed to making Jesus known in our community by whatever means possible whatever the personal cost.

God himself does not change, but he does have a tendency to work in unexpected and new ways. It would be easy for us to restrict our thinking and not be open to the possibilities of doing some things differently in the future, but this would lead to a stifling of the Spirit among us. Isaiah quotes God as saying ‘See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.’ We must not lose sight of God as a powerful Almighty God for whom nothing is impossible. As we look to the future, I believe we must ask God to give us a renewed vision of himself, and a renewed vision of what it means to be his church here in Faversham.
