The Minister of FBC is Rev Geoff Cook.

Geoff is married with three daughters, and is a lifelong Chelsea fan. He completed a theology degree at Spurgeon's College, London, then trained and worked as a secondary school teacher.

Following this, he joined  Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gravesend as a Youth Ministry Worker in association with Kent Youth & Community Service.

Geoff set up The Windmill Youth Centre, and ran 'Christmas Cracker' projects for several years, raising funds and awareness of world issues through running restaurants and radio stations. He pioneered the Youth Worship event 'No Limits' in locals schools. He was Associate Minister with the same church in Gravesend for a number of years, helping to launch the Shears Green Congregation, before moving to Faversham in 1998.

In 1998 / 1999 Geoff was President of the Kent Baptist Association. Since coming to Faversham, he has led the church through an extensive building renovation programme and been active within Churches Together in Faversham. He has chaired the local Christian Aid working group for many years. He regularly visits schools to take assemblies and was a Governor at Davington Primary for ten years.

Amongst many other things, Geoff is the executive member for the East Kent Baptist Network on the South Eastern Baptist Association (SEBA) and is involved with its Ministerial Recognition Group.

A Favourite Bible Verse: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Geoff enjoys music of all kinds, watching sport, walking, running, painting, genealogy, reading, camping and much else.

On Sunday we were looking at Matthew 5 – Jesus’ teaching in what we call the Sermon on the Mount. You will probably remember the scene in the Monty Python film where, because of the squbbling among members of the...

Michael Perry “The Paradox of Worship” (London: SPCK, 1977), p10: “Worship is not a human activity directed at God, but a divine activity initiated by God in which we are privileged to share. God draws men to worship with him; the Father seeks people to worship him in Spirit and in truth”

Another Route Wed 4 Jan 2012
It’s traditional of course to begin the New Year with some resolutions. From the hands that went up last Sunday in our congregation, it seems that the practice isn’t dead. The only person willing to publicly name their intentions indicated that their resolution was to get to church worship on time in future.  What’s yours? We’re only four...
