Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Faversham Baptist Church are the Data Controller (this means it decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes) and the Church Secretary acts as our Data Protection Trustee.

4. Whose information do we hold and why?
Processing is in relation to members and those having regular contact with the church through our regular activities.
5. Why do we gather personal information?
Faversham Baptist Church needs to process personal data for a variety of purposes, such as administering membership and attendance records, complying with safety and safeguarding procedures, managing our employees and volunteers, maintaining our accounts (including the processing of gift aid applications), providing prayer and pastoral support, and delivering community-focused services.
In summary, we are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you and provide services and pastoral support as appropriate. Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.
6. How do we process your personal data?
Faversham Baptist Church complies with its obligations under the GDPR by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.
7. Sharing your personal data
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other members of the church in order to carry out our services in the community or for purposes connected with the church. We will only share your data with third parties outside of the church with your consent.
8. How long do we keep your personal data?
We will keep your data for the period of your involvement with the church; your contact details will be removed once you are no longer a member of the church or when your involvement with any specific church activity has ceased – unless you ask to remain as one of our ‘Church Friends’. If you are a Church Member, your name may be archived as part of our historical record of membership of the church. Gift aid declarations and associated paperwork are kept for up to 7 years after the calendar year to which they relate; and marriage registers are kept permanently. 9. Your rights and your personal data
You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified.
If you have any concern at all about the way your information is being handled please speak to our Church Secretary. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
10. Further processing
If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we will provide you with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary, we will seek your prior consent to the new processing.
