Give It Up For Lent Tue 21 Feb 2012
It’s Ash Wednesday tomorrow – the beginning of Lent. Traditionally we find things to give up during Lent (the graphic above left shows the top things given up for Lent last year).  According to the Independent, an online survey shows that more than one in five British adults is planning to do something for Lent.

Blessed Are The Well Off Mon 13 Feb 2012
Monty Python’s Life Of Brian brilliantly illustrates how easy it is to mishear what Jesus is actually saying. On Sunday we were looking at Matthew 5 – Jesus’ teaching in what we call the Sermon on the Mount. You will probably remember the scene in the Monty Python film where, because of the squbbling among members of the...

Yesterday The Guardian published an article: Top Five Regrets Of The Dying – A nurse has recorded the most common regrets of the dying, and among the top ones is ‘I wish I hadn’t worked so hard’. What would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life? If that makes you think, I’ve...

Life To the Full: When faced with our own mortality, perspectives change. We often discover what is really important to us.

Love & War & The Sea In Between: Not sure how I’ve managed to miss out on Josh Garrels until now, but I’ve finally discovered his music. He’s just issued his seventh album – Love & War & The Sea In Between – and it’s already one of my favourite albums of the year.

The Discipline of Learning: Our family recently visited Blists Hill Victorian Town, part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. I first visited nearly twenty years ago with my wife, and we promised ourselves we would bring our children back to see it.

Running On Empty: We seem to spend a large proportion of our lives recharging things these days. Phones, games consoles, cameras, shavers, ipads and ipods – everything needs to be plugged in and charged up. Even my wonderful Kindle needs to be charged now and then.
