We sometimes say, “God helps those who help themselves,” but that’s not in the Bible. It would be more accurate to say God helps those who can’t help themselves and aren’t ashamed to admit it.

You can’t fool God. He isn’t impressed by outward show unless it is accompanied by a humble heart with the right attitude.

The difference between great faith and little faith is not one of quantity. Faith does not work like that. Faith allows God to do for us and with us what we could never do alone.

Who wants to be first? First in line for fame and recognition? Or first in line for serving others, even if that means pain and suffering? To be first means to be last, to be a servant. No service is too lowly.

Who do we identify with in the Palm Sunday story? Our best role model here just might be the donkey, to be like the one who literally was the Christ-bearer.
