Just like the church of God in Corinth, we can be sure that our church belongs to Jesus, our church is loved by Jesus, and our church is being built by Jesus.

As apprentices of Jesus we have been given the assignment of announcing the good news and the coming of his kingdom.

God has created us with a purpose.

Nehemiah, going about his ordinary life and work, was chosen by God to get started on a good work. He didn't do it alone, but it didn't happen until he was willing to get started. Allow God to restore his vision in your heart.

We are here by divine appointment, and every one of us is necessary to accomplish all of the things that Jesus has for us to do.

This is a difficult story. The point that Matthew is trying to make throughout this passage is that God is working his purpose out in the midst of a world that is dead set against him and his plans.

The book ends with a stirring word of encouragement to a discouraged leader. It was God’s way of saying, “Don’t ever give up. You have no idea of how great my plans are for you.”

Every church in every place at every time is in need of reform and renewal. But we need to beware lest we despise the church of God, and are blind to his work in history. We may safely say that God has not abandoned his church.

What does it mean to be "in Christ"? Paul explains that we are God’s possession, chosen by the Father, adopted through the Son and sealed with the Holy Spirit.
