On Remembrance Sunday, Dennis shows how the rescue of the Israelites from Egypt as God 'passes over' points to the sacrifice of Jesus for each and every one of us.

In the light of the mercy we have received from God, our lives and our minds are to be made new and we are to offer up our lives as a sacrifice, living in a way that pleases God.

Does God demand that we give things up for him, or choose difficult, “sacrificial” paths in order to please him?

Who wants to be first? First in line for fame and recognition? Or first in line for serving others, even if that means pain and suffering? To be first means to be last, to be a servant. No service is too lowly.

As Christians we are called to stand up, stand out and make a difference. That is likely to ruffle a few feathers and challenge a few vested interests.
